OFFICIAL EVENT CALENDAR
What is Fiesta San Antonio?
Born in 1891 with a simple “Battle of Flowers” parade to honor the heroes of the Alamo and San Jacinto, Fiesta San Antonio has evolved into one of America's greatest citywide festivities. Today, this nonprofit-run tradition features over 100 official events, raising critical funds for local charities while delivering a jaw-dropping blend of parades, pageantry, cuisine, and culture.
A Brief History
The Beginning (1891): A group of civic-minded women, led by Ellen Maury Slayden, organized San Antonio’s first floral parade—complete with floats, carriages, and flower pelts—to pay tribute to fallen heroes. That event gave birth to the Battle of Flowers Parade, the only major U.S. parade planned entirely by women.
Growth Over Time: Over decades, Fiesta expanded beyond a single parade into royalty coronations, bazaars, balls, carnivals, military observances, and themed street events like Night in Old San Antonio (NIOSA).
Modern Festival: Today’s Fiesta is a powerhouse of culture and celebration—with over 100 events, an economic impact exceeding $340 million, and a tradition of giving back all year round.
Spotlight Events
Fiesta® Fiesta: The official opening ceremony of Fiesta San Antonio — a free, family-friendly kickoff event packed with energy, tradition, and community spirit at Travis Park.
Texas Cavaliers River Parade: The parade features beautifully decorated boats, live music, folkloric dancing, and local celebrities floating past thousands of spectators lining the San Antonio River's banks.
Battle of Flowers Parade: San Antonio’s grand floral parade kicking things off in spring, filled with flower-laden floats and royal pageantry.
Fiesta Flambeau Parade: A magical nighttime parade featuring torch-lit floats and elaborate costumes, drawing nearly a million spectators.
Noche in Old San Antonio (NIOSA): Four nights at La Villita filled with food, dance, arts, and culture celebrating San Antonio’s diverse heritage—and supporting historic preservation.
Other Favorites: These include Cornyation (a lively theatrical satire), Fiesta Pooch Parade, King William Fair, and local food extravaganzas like the Oyster Bake and Taste of the Republic.
Why it's Special
Fiesta isn’t just a party—it’s a “party with a purpose.” Organized by the nonprofit Fiesta San Antonio Commission, it blends pageantry and philanthropy: over 100 local nonprofits raise funds through events that deliver San Antonio’s biggest fundraising and impact all year long.
It’s also a deeply local moment: locals collect and display handmade Fiesta medals, decorate doors in bright themes, don bold costumes or hats, crack colorful cascarones overhead, and fill the city with contagious camaraderie.
When and Where
Each April, Fiesta lights up downtown San Antonio and beyond with concerts, parades, fairs, and parties—Fiesta San Antonio returns for an 11-day celebration in mid-April, Thursday, April,16 - Sunday, April, 26, 2026
